Jackie O'Brien

My background is in both voluntary and private sector management. Currently, I am the General Manager of The Alice Cross Centre, a community centre based in Teignmouth. It is a lovely charity that supports well-being in the community. The centre is buzzing and one of our core services is providing affordable food. We do a meal delivery service for the elderly, provide lunch in the centre and run a Heat cafe three times a week where food is provided on a pay what you can basis. We also provide exercise classes, run a monthly well-being walk and have a community allotment. One of my main pre-occupations is finding funding to keep our centre going, which is getting harder to access so we put a lot of energy into fundraising, with lots of fun events. I love my job and it is a joy to support our local community.
