Plymouth City Conversations September 2020 - Online event
City Conversations provides business leaders with strategic briefings on a wide variety of topics that are of interest to those in senior management roles. None of the presentations are sales-based and the event is not suitable for solely business development focused individuals.
For September’s City Conversations we have a line-up of speakers at the forefront of the city’s recovery from the Covid-19 crisis.
This is an excellent opportunity to hear directly from the people in Plymouth charged with leading us out of crisis and the strategy, funding and programmes in place.
At the heart of the city’s economic recovery plan is the Resurgam initiative, led by Plymouth City Council Leader Tudor Evans, who will give an overview of progress and an insight into how it will support all sectors in the coming months.
Holly Golden, Head of Procurement at Plymouth City Council will introduce Spend 4 Plymouth which is one of the pillars of Plymouth City Council’s Resurgam programme and explores how Procurement, including Commissioning can play its part in the economic recovery and regeneration of the City. The focus of this pillar is to keep the pounds in Plymouth wherever possible and maximise the wider benefits of our spending to the City’s economy, society and environment ( Social Value)
Emma Hewitt, Building Plymouth Skills Coordinator, will be updating us on the new Skills Launchpad initiative, a new one-stop-shop skills service which aims to help local people equip themselves with the skills they – and employers – need to play a part in the city’s future.
We will also be welcoming Daniel Coxon from the University of Plymouth who will describe how the ambitious new iLEAD project – part of the iMayflower programme - will develop Plymouth’s new generation of leaders. iLEAD seeks to bring together leaders who can genuinely affect systems change in Plymouth and create a new collaborative model of leadership for the future.
