Menopause Event with South West Women in Business

Devon and Plymouth Chamber of Commerce are proud to be teaming up with South West Women in Business to host an event based around the menopause. After the success of SWWIB’s virtual event in October, breaking down the taboo of the menopause, we are delighted to be able organise on an in-person event following this.

The event will be looking at the menopause from a women’s perspective but also from the angle of an employer and the HR processes surrounding the issue.

Menopausal women are the fastest-growing workforce demographic. Therefore, it makes sense that forward-thinking organisations recognise the importance and value of introducing menopause policies and guidance, raising awareness of menopause and putting the right support in place.

This event will take place at the China Fleet Country Club in Saltash where you will get the opportunity to network with members of the Chamber and SWWIB alike over pastries and a hot drink while enjoying the beautiful surroundings.
We will be joined by guest speakers, including:
 

• Carolyn Giles, Head of People & Operations, Plymouth City Bus and Director at SWWIB. Carolyn is a long standing member of SWWIB and will be giving an update on their activity, how you can get involved as well as introducing the event.

• Jane Sargeant, Healthcare Account Manager, Nuffield Health. Jane will be discussing the range of services Nuffield can offer to women going through the menopause as well and informing members on the series of patient/consumer events that are being hosted at Devonshire Gym throughout the year as well as introducing Dr. Strestha, Consultant Obstetrician and Gynaecologist.

• Helena White, Head of HR Services at Delt Shared Services. Helena will be looking at the menopause from a purely HR perspective. Including;
• How you can recognise when support is needed and facilitate open conversations with employees about what they’re experiencing
• What you should do to update your HR policies
• How to set up support and services for women to enable them to perform at their best

• Nikki Harris, Owner, Women’s Hormone Health. Nikki will be talking about how our body changes with the fluctuating hormones and what causes weight gain, hot flushes, brain fog, and changes in mood. And a couple of nutrition tips on how to support yourself.

• Briony Goldsmith, Chair of the Menopause Network, Plymouth University will be joining us to discuss the Menopause Support Network lead by the University. The network was initially launched as a support group in March 2019 for all employees and expanded to become an official staff network in October 2019.

• This event has been organised in line with current Government guidance for Coronavirus in England. We advise all guests to wear a face covering while moving around unless eating or exempt. 
• The venue will have sanitiser available for your use and will be well ventilated.
• We kindly request that you undertake a Lateral Flow Test 24 hours prior to attending the meeting and only attend following a negative result. Please do not attend if you test positive for, or develop any symptoms of, Covid-19.
