John Naismith

I am the Supporter Engagement Manager at Jeremiah's Journey having moved this amazing little charity in January 2022. Prior to this role I have worked in Volunteer Recruiter/Manager roles at Age UK Plymouth, Alzheimer's Society and Citizens Advice Plymouth.

My move to the charity sector followed a career in Devon and Cornwall Police, working mostly in Plymouth but also SE Cornwall.

I am married to Tracey and we have two little dogs. My daughter is a primary school teacher.

Outside of my work my interests are music and cycling.

I am a relatively recent convert to road cycling having got into it just before COVID hit (fortunately avoiding the pandemic rush - and associated queue - for bikes). 2024 will see me take on the Ride London Essex 100 mile challenge in May and a ride up Aple d'Huez, the most iconic of iconic Tour de France climbs, on my 60th birthday in September.

An excellent motivator and communicator with a track record of producing key changes with notable results. Ability to manage diverse teams and services alongside P&L scrutiny, procurement and project management. Open to challenge and giving opportunities to staff, supporting business growth, whilst reviewing policies and procedures to enhance excellent methods of work practice.
Experienced in safer recruitment, retention analysis, absence management, disciplinaries, investigations, training, line management, SLT decision making, P&L , HR systems analysis and reporting, effective communication, appraisal system overhaul, policy reviews, ER issues, staff welfare. Excellent HR generalist experience with management ability.
